Irene Gustafson’s research interests are located very broadly within visual culture studies with an emphasis on film/video theory and production. Her specific areas of research are: non-fiction film/video, experimental film/video, and queer and sexuality studies. 

 

ARI Supported Project: 

'Conversations' is a collaborative endeavor between myself, several San Francisco/Tenderloin community groups, and members of the UCSF medical community, with the goal of transforming barriers to equitable healthcare by centering the voices of people most impacted by lack of or negligent care. 'Conversations' has one distinct outcome: a long form documentary project that chronicles and facilitates a community accountability process between patients and doctors, and the institutions which structure their relations.
